The Clifian Empire

This is the empire is the fastest expanding in the region. 50 years ago it began as a small costal country and has since expanded its borders in the Cradlepoint Dominion, Kingdom of Raha, Sunhold Kingdom, and Menil Kingdom. It has had an unbroken line of three milteristic expansionist kings who each played a part in the kingdoms expansion.

Capitol

The capitol of the empire is a port city called Zmur. Zmur was built by dwarves in between to large rivers, canals from both provide the city with ample drinking water and goods transportation. Public buildings were construsted in the distant path from a green tinted stone no longer found in the area. A mangrove swamp was dammed, levied, and drained by the dwarves to funnel out into two large canals. The city is a hub of commerce due to its access to two main contiental rivers, and its centeral position. Fertile valleys upstream from the city provide it with the means to feed the largest, and most densely populated city on the continet.

Republic of Lekle

The republic is the oldest country, predating most by hundreds of years. It is ruled by an immortal and benevolent godking and has enjoyed peace and prosperty for millenium. The country is largely peaceful and does not have a standing army. Lekle is very near to the equator; hot dry summers and mild winters contribute to arid conditions across large swaths of the country. Population

Nomads: A sizeable portion of the country are nomadic. Nomads rely on dates, milk, and occasional meat — simple, portable foods.
Southern Coastal Dwellers: the richest diets with rice, fish, spices, and fruits thanks to sea trade.
Centeral and Northern Cities: Most cities could not support a large population. Nearby oasis supplied the city with hearty grains and fruits (most commonly wheat and dates) and a combination of seasonal rivers, wells, large communal cisterns, and strict water control provided water year round.
Capitol: The capitol has existed long before the godking took the reigns of power. It is by far the largest and most populas in the scarce and scarce country. Its longevity is thanks to a unnatural and extremely prolific spring originating near the capitol and flowing out through canals and into farmlands outside the city walls.

Sunhold Kingdom

Sunhold is where the story begins and where Theodore was raised. It is an older kingdom with economic issues from government overspending, and an ongoing war against Clifia. The country has a modest population made up mostly of rural farming communities. The region is mountainous slowing travel and communications.

The war

50 years prior the the beginning of the story, Sunhold's southern neighbor Clifia made military advances into Sunhold. The initial advance pushed Sunhold's southern border in, cutting it off from the Shand river. Blockades were posted to the tributaries coming from Sunhold to cut off easy trade with other nations. Since the initial push, several battles pushed Clifia's hold deeper into the country and up the rivers. The capitol of Sunhold was moved further north to the city of Cales to avoid capture by the enemy. At the time of the story a temporary treaty was signed while each nation recouped its strength.

Cradlepoint Dominion

The Cradlepoint name comes from the large, central region that is surrounded by mountains on the north and south side. This area is the most densely populated country. The harsh wind and weather that comes in from the north sea is broken by the higher altitude steppe before they reach the Cradle. Clouds roll over the steppe and break in mountains south of the Cradle. These clouds provide the water that form many large rivers and carry nutrient rich sediment down from the mountain range and into the cradle. The southern mountains wall off all of the weather that would come from the south. Humans who are most attuned to the god of agriculture thrive in this safe fertile environment. During the northern winter the moist air coming off the ocean is denser and doesn’t usually make its way over the plateau. However in the summer the air is less dense and the winds are much stronger allowing for plenty of rain to reach into and over the cradle.
